Milne might want to consider who owns shares in these "big mining companies". Take a look at superannuation funds of each and every tax payer and voter in this country and you will find these same big mining companies shares in them. My business relies on the resource industry to employ hundreds of people and pays them very well for there services. In turn these employees spend their salaries with lots of other service industries, manufacturers and retailers in this country. Without it the future of this country would look like Greece or Spain. Less government interference and red tape is required to keep this industry employing people. The choice is yours on Sept 14th and I suggest each and every voter take this opportunity to reflect and consider the consequences of their vote. Do the research and make an informed decision when you vote for in the state and federal elections.

Which ever way the Greens look at this, they were never going to get their all out, to hell with the consequences, tax plan through. Their best hope was the ALP. It's still not what they wanted. So now they throw the toys out of the cot. It's a nice rosy world they live in with zero accountability and idealogical concepts.

Manufacturing and service sectors contribute far more to the Australian economy than mining in terms of both monetary terms and employment (direct and indirect).

Not saying mining is "unimportant", but the constant referral to it as the cornerstone of the economy is overplayed.
