an election voting about homo's rights and a poorly managed NBN rollout is a disaster waiting to happen, its hardly something that's going to keep this country avoid a recession.
between an emissions trading scheme, finally ruining the whole automotive industry with fbt changes (let alone the manufacturing), signing an open check book to fuzzy wuzzy PNG to house our Iranian oversupply and now he has set out labor policies to protect himself from being overthrown again. the sooner libs return, the sooner farmers can sell their beef, corporate welfare can return with mining taxes and other poorly forecasted policies can be reversed and things will undoubtedly turn around for the better.

I bet the open cheque book would still be cheaper than processing / detaining and 'integrating' them in to Australia.

I'm not saying we should kill all the stupid people, but we should take all the warning labels off things and let the problem sort itself out...

well worth revisiting the actions of Liebor party and Ju-liar Gillard again I think:
First published 16 September 2013 - Today is the last day of the Rudd/Gillard Government First published 16 September 2013 - worth revisiting today. Today Tony Abbott will announce his ministry and tomorrow he and his ministers will be sworn in. On Friday Julia Gillard authored a 5,000 word essay published in The Guardian's Australian edition. On this last day of the Gillard/Rudd Labor Government I'll look at her legacy. There've been lots of columns and articles on the topic - mine won't be a lengthy addition - and that's because Ms Gillard sums up what she did to Australia in just one paragraph. ....thought has to be given to the costs and consequences of poor conduct. What can and should be done when caucus colleagues dedicate themselves to .... bringing the party in to disrepute? This was a question incapable of being answered during a minority government when every member had the ability to blow the government up, but it is a question that should be answered now. She says that poor conduct could not be dealt with because she was in a minority government. Every member had the ability to blow the government up. She could not deal with bad behaviour because if she had to expel an MP, or refer a matter to police, or ask for a resignation, she would lose government. On the most charitable reading, Ms Gillard's actions were the result of a determination to keep a Labor Government in power. In doing that she chose power before decency, before the truth, and before allowing the law to take its course. Because she was in a minority government we can see what she was prepared to trample to keep herself there. On 16 August 2011 Bronwyn Bishop rose in question time to ask Prime Minister Gillard a question about Craig Thomson: Mrs BRONWYN BISHOP (Mackellar) (15:26): My question is to the Prime Minister. I refer the Prime Minister to her statement that she retains complete confidence in the member for Dobell but that she had not undertaken a thorough investigation into the allegations surrounding that member. Has she now conducted an investigation of her own into the allegations surrounding the member for Dobell and is she satisfied that her confidence in the member for Dobell is warranted? Ms GILLARD (Lalor—Prime Minister) (15:27): I thank the member for the question. It gives me the opportunity to say I have complete confidence in the member for Dobell. I think he is doing a fine job representing the people of his constituency in this place and raising their concerns in this parliament, as is appropriate for a local member. I look forward to him continuing to do that job for a very long, long, long time to come. This was after Craig Thomson told me on 2UE that he authorised payment of escort agency bills using HSU money. On 23 August 2011 Ms Gillard told the ABC's AM program that she had called Mr Thomson in, had spoken to him about his behaviour. That morning the Sydney Morning Herald had published details of phone calls Mr Thomson's mobile made around the time it called escort agencies, including to staffers for then Foreign Minister Stephen Smith and Mark Arbib as well as HSU boss Michael Williamson. And still no action from her other than cover up. And why? Because in her own words the "question" of what action should have been taken was "incapable of being answered during a minority government" because Craig Thomson had the "ability to blow the government up". The kid gloves approach to Craig Thomson resulted in letters like this, from Mr Thomson to the investigator at Fair Work Australia and published in the FWA report into the matter at Chapter 6, paragraph 15 (edited for space). Dear Mr Nassios, Further to my discussion with Ms Carruthers regarding the investigation and in particular in relation to the use of the HSU credit card at escort agencies, I make the following points: I did not and have not used my HSU credit card for escort services. Fairfax publications has agreed to a confidential settlement of the defamation action I brought against them. That I understand that my ‘signature’ and the signatures on the credit card forms were forged. A handwriting expert was to be called as a witness. The terms of the settlement (with Fairfax) preclude me from making any further comment. Regards Craig Thomson Ms Gillard sat and watched as Craig Thomson spoke to the House of Representatives for one hour carried live on television. She watched as Mr Thomson used the Parliament's time, the nation's time and a good deal of the parliament's standing to suggest that a union organiser Marco Bolano had set him up with "hookers" to ruin his political career. Children watched this happen. Aspiring leaders saw the result of toughing it out. Many foolish commentators called the behaviours tough, bulletproof, gutsy. But that's not what it was. It was tawdry and cheap and beneath the dignity and privilege of the Parliament. Like the Coat of Arms atop the Parliament House building, the virtues found in our character will endure. They might be temporarily usurped by people of bad character, but like Gillard's government, that can only ever be temporary. Today I hope we remember the lies, the bad behaviour, the coverups, the corruption. Today I hope we mark a conscious decision to reassert our values, to reassert the privilege and responsibilities of the parliament and the people it represents. It would be wrong simply to forget, to say it belongs to the past, to let it go. Justice must be done and manifestly seen to be done. I wish Tony Abbott and his ministry well. While he might find it personally distasteful, he must make certain we don't forget what his predecessors did. Or the consequences that should be coming their way.
