As far as i know there are the following restrictions in place: (for p plates)
1st Phase - 6 months (Red):
- BAC of 0
- Restricted driving hours. Cant drive between 12 midnight - 5am unless its for work in which they need to supply you with a letter incase you are pulled over to explain that your driving to work.

2nd Phase - 18 months (Green):
- BAC of 0

So from Learners to Provisional licence the only differences are:
- Max (legal) speed of 100km/h goes to 110km/h
- Max driving time of 2 hrs in one drive without a 15 min or more break is lifted and you can drive for how ever long you want to.

There are No Performance restrictions on any of the L/P plate phases.... yet
$100 fine if caught with out p plates displayed.

You have 4 demerit points for the year that your on l's get another 4 the first year on your P's then another 4 when you get your full licence -- Will need to check that though

I would highly suggest to get something a little less than a WRX as its likely youre going to bump, grind, knock or hit objects as you gain experience on the road (and in car parks!) in the first few years of your driving career. Then there is the argument about empowering a P plater with a rocket...

Hopefully your parents will have the same view.

Take it from someone who got a WRX before they were ready/gained the experience to own one.

Start with something small and non turbo. Gain an understanding of how it handles in the wet, dry and in emergency situations.

Once you gain enough experience and are confident with that car, you can move up to something else.

Then book into a skid pan/defensive driving day.

Gl
