Default link problems?!?!

hey after just recently buying a v3 link pnp ecu off one of the guys in the forum off a car with pretty much the same mods as me, i tried to plug it into mine and.... the outcome was horrific haha to say the least, the car shutters wont idle at all unless ur heavy on the accelerator even so it probably idles up to around 3k then dies again and all kinds of other problems... now asg has told me that i need to change the whole wiring loom because it may have came out of a aus spec wrx but nope it was also a jdm wrx that it came out of same as mine... what problems could there be..? how hard would it be to fix? and most importantly an estimate of the cost..? thanx

I think just a few wires need to be swapped on the plugs going into the ECU.

Think you might find if it is one of the original PnP replacement boards that there is actually a set of jumpers on the board that can be set to tell it if it is a JDM or ADM (immobiliser or not) so you don't have to swap actual wires or change loom. Try having a look on the Link Electrosystems web site, I think you may find manuals and all sorts of things.

Its cause your potentially dealing with 2 completely different sets of wiring regardless of how 'similar' they might be.

If thats the case and there is no 'easy' fix.. then you're looking at paying an auto sparky ~80+gst / hour to trace each wire for you and eliminate/determine wat has to be modified

to make it much easier. Get a ECU pin out diagram for your car and the link. You can compare them and it will make the wire swap much less time consuming.
