What mods are done to your car?
You really need to get on a dyno and you need some knock ears or some sort of knock detection.

full tbe 3' ss mandrel , vf23 , 9:1 compression , permanent wide-band, 02 sti intake , sti cooler , ID1000's
bout to have a new 207 and acvs heads,

just wanna be able to boost alil with out the hippy hippy shakes and feeling like wet sock.
till i get my new motor in.

fueling taking care of its self with the auto tune , and closed loop lamda , on idle its sitting on roughy 22' jumps up to about 38' mid range then platos back to 14'-16' degrees higher in the load range , runs like a terd , basicly the stock G4 map, but i massaged the fueling and ignition on idle to stop the hunt.

afrs 14.7 cruisen
loaded 11.5

yeah i realise i need some ears , i got a knock link, wired

You can sort the idle using the idle ignition table, just need to turn it on in the ignition corrections menu and set operating parameters.
14-16 deg advance at high load is dangerous.
I'm at around 8deg at high load, mine was pinging at 10deg

sweet found that, what do u suggest , 12-14 on idle?
i noticed it was jumping from 16 to 27 on idle as it was inbetween cells , i smoothed that area, and smoothed the fueling ,

idle drop a touch low now if you driving , and clutch in , but the ecu catches it befor stalling.

Lock the idle to 12 degrees.

I run 13-16 degrees at peak load (peak torque) climbing back to the low 20's by 7600 rpm.

Wow John - pinging at 10 degrees? How much boost are you bashing in?

This is 14 degrees with 1.7 bar on 11.2 AFR's

This is the commander of my PFC, the Knock index of 17 is totally normal - The norm on WRX pfc tunes is anything <35 - Borderline safe is around 60 - Det shows up as a spike >75.

This is an old ignition map - the yellow cells indicate a 1.4 bar run through the map (05/2011- the only screen shot I've bothered to save):

Ignore the 22-25 in the first 3 cells at 800 rpm - the PFC locks to 12 degrees in these cells regardless of map setting (background setting through the datalogit I use).

None of the bottom end or midrange timings have been changed in the last 12 months, timing around peak torque is 2-3 degrees higher currently though.

The dropped timing between 8-8400 is to help prevent limiter ping (PFC uses a fuel cut limiter unfortunately).

My cruise AFR's are low to mid 15's.
Peak torque AFR's 11.0 (24/25 psi)
Idle AFR's 13.0 to smooth my cammy idle a little.

Here are my AFR targets :

HTH - err on the side of rich AFR's & soft timing around 3500-4000 to keep it safe.

I was only running 1.2bar, 11.5A/FR, I could actually here it pinging, so not good.
I can get mine to idle nicely at 13.8A/FR with 272's
I haven't been able to get on a dyno yet, and, with no knock detection or control I have to err on the side of caution until I can get it sorted, I'll probably buy a Knocklink soon.
My ign map is based on one from a 44S that was tuned by Leigh Hynes, and that was at 8deg at high load/rpm, so I'm not sure why you can run much more timing with the PFC.
I'll need to wait to fully optimise the timing map.
