Old GC8 vs old EVO 6.5....

I love it when it works like this^^^ hate it when it jams in neutral.
Nice work doug, pretty busy behind the wheel!

Watched some of your footage from the Experts Cup also.

Plenty of trees.

Fuck.

That.

Doug do you find that you are 'less smooth' on tarmac due to your large amount of experience on gravel? I mean, on gravel corrections in the car tend to be quick and 'jagged' as the gravel smooths the actions out and puts them in relative slow-motion compared to tarmac. If you were to do the same on tarmac and you could find yourself spinning.
Is your car just a monster to handle or has your rally background taken out a bit of the smoothness that a tarmac-only person might have? Or am I talking out of my arse having not driven anything more powerful than a stock GC8 so I have no idea what your Lib feels like? Keen to know coz I'm sure there'd be a link between the two..
thanks!

Alex, there's lots of reasons I'm 'less smooth', some may even call them 'excuses'....lol.

1/ I like to have a bit of fun, I'm never in the running for the results in these things so I let it rip.

2/ I f**ked up the first run so I was even less inclined to 'keep it real' in the other 5 tests.

3/ My tyres are hard, and 3+ years old free hand-downs.

4/ The antilag on that car makes the accelerator an on off function pretty much. (I could turn it off after the launch, but....meh, refer to excuse #1)

5/ That was the first time on that circuit and it's not a nice place to be on the limit of corner speed with shit to hit everywhere. It's nice to have a bit up your sleeve even if it means turning in twice on a few bends.

6/ I hadn't driven that car in competition in years, and never with the Brembo brakes.

To summarise, I can drive a lot neater. On a circuit like RAC or Barbs I wouldn't run the antilag and can drive proper racing lines lap after lap.

Sadly it would seem so, though Herridge Jnr may disagree...

^^^^ Yerp...thought that just after I posted that. He sure showed em at Targa. They definately have their dak daks going very well and obviously his get the absolute wheels driven off it.

Sadly hsvent driven either a X or a betty to compare first hand.

And hearing you Dougie. Trying to be fast and tidy can be boring. Trying to dance on the ragged edge is alot more fun. If it also happens to be fast its a bonus.
