Can't see how a properly setup nitrous will smash driveshafts.

Infact, videos of hire cars with it on, didn't smash shafts.

Regarding the regs, don't know - best to ask Motorplex. All I know is you need some stickers/markings on the car to say it has the funny gas.

If you are going down this path, it may be 'cheaper' to look at a drag tune with E85 / C16 / VP109. I'd only ever consider nitrous if it was to pass a certain time barrier i.e. you are stuck at 11.01 and need to get to 10.99. If you are doing a 13.5 and want to go 13.2, don't waste your time with it.

Also weigh up if the cost is worth it compared to just getting a different turbo/engine setup that nets more power.

Well said teejay

Good points Kato,

This is not for the setup I have at the moment, I am currently in the process of putting together a plan with another member on here to build a whole new setup.

This will include a Twin scroll 35R, which I know will take a fair amouint of time to spool up, due to the engine size. Hence I wanted a small squirt just to get the spool up happening quicker.

Dammit jaron beat me to it, lol. Ahhh brad. I loved that car.

And if you run <10.99 or >140 for memory, there's a whole other set of rules in play.

Brent.

Edit: also Simon, speak to Darren. (budgie). He has it, has maps for the motec on it, understands it, and is a fan.

Thanks Brent, when the time comes I will start to ask more questions. But my answer to run it at the drags on a Wednesday has been answered I think

Really easy to give them a call. Also as said, nothing wrong or dangerous with well setup nitrous.

I had a friend with a MY99 WRX, TBE, CAI, injectors uncapped, fuel pump and aftermarket computer who installed nitrous and I'm 99% sure he took it to the drags at least 5 times "Yes he did have a few checks and some extra paperwork but it wasnt a problem"

Re: Stress on the car - yeah a kick of 50hp could damage your car - hell it could damage any car - its more about timing "when it is used" and a good tune.

Cant stress how important a good computer system/ tune is if your going to play with nitrous. My friends on the SAUWA forums have some horror stories of NOS in semi modded R33's
