Not sure but I think whatever he took went bang. GTRs seem to do that when you lean on em hard.
Was a long hard day today. Seems to be a fair rate of attrition.

Day 4 done, 595 odd kms of transport and competitive phew.
Brendo is racing up the leader board in the evo. Well done. Had a mixed day of shit times and good times with Rhiana being an epic 35kms long where we were 16th. Only 0.25 sec per km slower than brendan. Happy with the show of possibility just need to put it together consistently! Car is capable of alot more. Last day tomorrow with 30 odd km stage straight out of strahan and Mt Arrowsmith an epic 58km long or around 38 minutes of non stop on the gas. Looking forward to the finish and a shit load of drinking. If all how well I will have a gold targa trophy by tomorrow night for completion under the specified time 3 consecutive years. Missed out by that much last one I had a chance to get one so it will be nice to finally get it! Lots of fog on stages again. And low cloud even when the sun was out Matt close in the Audi TT had a big off in Rhiana and was taken to hospital for observation. Not as much carnage as previous years but amusing to see cars off in exactly the same place and corners that are obvious risks every year.

Spoke to the FIV guy that attended Closes crash said it was pretty serious. Kasey is fine but Matt has a compression fracture to his vertebrae and a broken thumb. We spoke to him and he seemed to be in very good spirits and said the car is not too bad. We had a better day today and started setting some better stge times...we even got up to 6th on one stage. Then the gearbox started some ordinary noises...... So we drained it.......... So tomorrow will just be trying to nurse it to the end..... The notes for one stage tomorrow is 47 pages so the car is going to take an absolute belting. Brendon

Well we are done and dusted for 2012! Happy with the day overall and the rally despite some frustrating moments.
When it was good it was good ie: less than 0.25sec/ km behind brendons pace, passing stewy in Mt Arrowsmith so we caught 30 and then went passed, and a good run out of Strahan this morning. Down to very slow and bad stages in the wet. 16th by the finish today, quite proud of Graham Iddles - when I first agreed to run with him 3 targas ago he was coming around 40th. I would suggest in the time we have done it he has picked up around 6 seconds / km. Huge thanks as usual to Maximum Motorsport and the service crew, car was faultlessly prepared and maintained. Not a single issue all week ( the sane cannot be said for many). To be taken from this year is to gain some greater level is consistency and we could grab a low teen or top ten finish. Great week and highly reccomend to anyone who is even remotely interested in doing it. To top it off I will have a gold targa plate coming my way this year so happy days. Plenty of reminders today that it is a 5 day rally not a sprint with cars blowing up and crashes right up to the 2nd last stage. You can't win if you don't finish! I'll chuck some picks up when I get back home.

We got to the end! The front diff started amking some uber ordinary noises yesterday so we drained it and found all sorts of bits of metal in it. Made a decision late last night not to put a new box in it and try and nurse it to the end. Ended up making it into Hobart with no front wheel drive and no fourth gear. Damage was probably a remnant from our crash at high country in November.
All in all an amazing event on the most awesome roads. We ended up 13th after dropping 2 places today in conservation mode. Massive tick off the bucket list but what i wouldnt do to come back with a healthy car from the get go! Brendon

Well done to both!
What's the deal with the gold plate shane? Is it so many rallies or something else?
