Default Carringtons Safari Rally- Round 5, WA State Rally Championship October 13th

This coming weekend is the final round of the outright WA State rally championship (WARC), round 5 of the WA State 2WD Championship and WA Clubman Rally Series.

Hosted by the Light Car Club and sponsored by Carringtons Traffic Services, the Safari rally will be 110km of tough stages through the forests of Mundaring.

The competition will start at around 1:00PM with the first car finishing in the dark at around 7:20PM. All of the rally's stages are pace noted to take maximum advantage of the tight, tree lined gravel roads.

This year's Safari will be the decider of the WARC with P-WRX member Alex Stone (Stona) and navigator Hanna Drury holding the championship lead in their GC8 WRX to fellow GC8 owner Leigh Hynes.

The service park and HQ will again be based in Chidlow, however Rally HQ will be located in the Chidlow Tavern, where the presentation ceremony will also be held after the rally.

The organisers are seeking volunteer officials, particularly for road closures.
This is the perfect opportunity to have a VIP spectator point in the Forest where you are able to get up close to the rally action. If you or someone you know would love to spend the day watching rally cars fly by, contact
Ann Percival: annpercival@myplace.net.au or 0418 921 216.

Safari Rally info, supp regs and spectator information can be found on the rallywa web site: www.rallywa.com

Your already leading your P class, now if you win, Leigh comes second and Stone fails to finish we'll all be happy. But seriously all the best and tight nuts!

AWESOME day yesterday, despite the rain, had a blast watching the guys race all day. My station was near the start of Flynn 1 & 2, so at the end I ended up driving the entire of that stage in the dark behind the sweeper car in my lowered WRX....needless to say BIG respect to all the competitors! That gravel track was gnarly, verging on 4x4 territory in places but man couldn't wipe the grin off my face after driving it.

Here's a few pics of mostly Subaru's, the grain is actually fairly heavy rain :

Blurry pic, but love a good bit of flame!

If anyone wants copies send me a PM and I'll send all I have. I've only got a few of each car.

Nice pics Ryan. I didn't get the camera out once. Had a ball out at Oak George all day. It was a long day. Left home at 8am and didn't get home until 11:30pm. Doug, heard you were on the hunt for oil on the last stage?

We had a great day in the white GC8, car #2. Had a good battle with Doug and O'Dowd. Leaving the last service we were 4sec behind Doug, and 8sec in front of O'Dowd. It was a pity that Doug had problems in the last two, but we pushed hard, to end up 30sec in front of O'Dowd, to take 3rd place for the event. Pretty happy with that.
Had no problems with the car, although at post event scrutiny after taking the intercooler off one of the dogbone link bolts was out ( maybe that was the knocking noise). We also broke the drivers side mirror when we clipped a big gumtree on the apex of a right hander at about 130km/hr!
Cheers to you guys out in the forest officalling, and to Doug and Stona, for the parts and advise, and congrats to Stona on the championship.
Wavey.

Was out on a road closure (not sure of stage name, was stage 1 though). Managed to get a few shots between the rain and the complete darkness but wasnt the best spot for photos. Was a good day.
