Red face OBD2 computer monitoring

Going out on a limb here.

Not sure if this is possible, but what i would like to do is somehow use a laptop to monitor/record diagnostics via the obd2 port, similar to what the ecudatascan does etc.

Is there software that can do this? i do see that OBD2 to USB/Serial cables are available. Any input would be great.

the software i used had an usb driver on their website. The program would then assign a COM port to the cable...in short words usb worked.

the software is called ecuExplorer ver 3.0.25 and i have both the software and the driver. See if you can google it first if not pm me your email and i'll send it to ya
