WOW E4lution!
Thanks for the pic. Mate, i can see the difference right there. Just what i needed to see. Handling is definately my priority but then again im agreeing with IC3. Damn... this is tuff. This setup is costing a bit of $$$ so i want to get it right. Thanks again guys. |

i'll say 17" is better all round, to me, 18 its all for looks, tho some ppo might say 18's have less tyre flex and more responsive. but then you can really feel each pebble you drive over.
my dad's euro comes with 16", he then changed to 18's and the handling isn't that much better, except the steering is so responsive that when the car drives over bumpy roads, it shakes the steering. |

Hey Kaez,
I've also got a MY00 and was faced with the same problem a couple months ago. After speaking with Johhn at Wheels World he pretty much convinced me on the 17's. Apart from the fact you're very restricted in rim choice in 18's as the offset has to be spot on to get the right gaurd clearance, the clincher for me was rubber. For just under $300 a piece I could get Hankook K107's which are a pretty quality tyre... you'll be looking at least $400 a tyre to get a quality tyre in 18" with the load rating. Just my experience anyway... goodluck with ur choice |

I'd stick with 17's myself. Stuff paying more than the 3-400 bucks for a tyre I'm already paying. But if you do decide you want 18's go for it and keep your current wheels for if you decide to do any track days and drags.

Thanks for all the help guys....17's it is. What a tuff decision that was.
Ok, my next question is should i invest in 17/7 or 17/7.5 ? Are there any other differences other than the wider rim/tyre combo offering better grip than the 17/7 ? Cheers. |

And as for unsprung weight being an issue. The Falkens weighed less than my previous 17" Bridgestone S03's. They had a stiffer sidewall and a very nice fat rim protector. Tyres are expensive over here on Perth, you are better off buying a quality tyre from over east and paying $15 each to ship them yourself to Perth. J
