If you want to up your revlimit you'll need either an aftermarket ecu, or an ecu reflash.

What exactly are you hoping to gain from this, apart from making an excuse to join the 207 club??

So to answer your question hold it at revlimter for ~4 minutes to increase the revlimit to 9k.

Why do you want to rev it?

You can rev an EJ207 to 8500rpm all day every day. Most turbos start dropping off around 7k, so why would you want to rev it any higher??

The stock crankshaft becomes marginal at constant use above 8500rpm, and requires mods to be reliable above 9000rpm.

You will need to run an aftermarket or a shimmed stock oil pump to increase oil pressure, and possibly even a cross drilled crank because centrifugal force throws oil away from the crank journals at really high RPM in a Subaru.

maybe, he has a big turbo or cams and to increase use of it he wants to run that extra 1000rpm - 2000rpm.

It all depends on circumstance. Best speak to a tuner and prod them about it, you'll be able to see where on the dyno plot you wanna do something like this on a mechanical and electrical matter.

Exactly. Sledgehammer GT30 needs lots of revs to make power, unlike most TD04s..
