do you have an oil catch can fitted? As mentioned, just save the money if nothing is wrong and spend it elsewhere, get the motor checked out at any workshop, they will tell you if it's on the way out..

should be able to get an V8-10 sti motor, turbo TMIC and ecu purchased and fitted for about 6K....

THE BEST SOLUTION...
Ahh thanks man, that sounds like a good option! Will definatly keep that in mind!

if your running a modified vehicle then yes its handy, not so for a near stock vehicle. Probably a good idea to get one with the path your going down, i have one for sale hehe free plug for myself

im in a similar boat to you, got a my99 with 127,000 on the clock, pretty much paid it off, unsure wether to continue mod it or sell it at the end of the year for a newer wrx. Ive already got some nice bits on it ie VF34, FMIC etc, just need to get an ecu and few other bits n pieces, i had also been looking into the ej207, done similar k's to your motor, do a group buy get one cheaper

I find it so so hard to part from my GC8! I had my car up for sale for about 2 months a while ago expecting to sell it straight away and to then purchase a newer model, but no-one was interested so i decided to keep it and im not regreting it! I know i should be wasted money on my car but hey, its a hobbie and its the best hobbie (expensive hobbie). well i think you should keep your car bro since it has so much potential. Like mine i want to mod it big time now and im scared with all these mods i have planned, i hope it dont blow the engine cause i like to test the cars limits . Let me know how much u selling that catch can for and ill get back to ya. I would be interested in this group buy, im all for getting parts for a good deal.

Reason I ask is it is handy in indicating the condition of your motor..ie, how much oil it collects, what the oil looks and feels like...

ej207 wont be any faster than yours, if that's what youre expecting. it's just stronger, so you can essentially, MAKE it faster. So, buy all the bolt on stuff that you'd put on the 207 first, whack em on you're current motor until (if) it blows. That's what i'd do anyway. you're motor might be fine and last for ages. If it ain't broke, dont fix it =)
