what type of oil do you run in it? might be worth putting a 15/50ish or even 20/50/60 in it.

new plugs, move to a thicker oil and it should clear it up... dont forget to hit it with a can of subaru throttle body cleaner as well to de-carbon out the manifold etc...

Currently using Mobil Super 2000 X2 10W-40(formerly Mobil Synth S), will change the plugs, what oil grade would you recommend?

try 25w-50, its a much thicker oil, engine performance difference is negligible

cool, thanks. have been contemplating going to a thicker grade for a while as the engine has alot of kms on it. fortunately, its never had any engine mods other than bov, tbe and cai. which is probably why it's lasted so long.

any brand in particular to look for?

how's this? -->>

Castrol EDGE sport 25w-50

Castrol EDGE Sport 25W-50 is the ultimate product dedicated to satisfying modified engines, push-rod technology, street machines and the big bore competition engines.

This premium quality mineral oil sits at the top of the food chain for all things seriously big, loud and proud. It’s the famous oil that was originally formulated for speed work in competition engines and is the oil that’s used exclusively by world record holder and 6 time Top Doorslammer Champion Victor Bray and his legendary ’57 Chevy.

e.g. Ford Falcon pre '97, Holden Commodore pre '95, Holden Torana...

Purposely bred to:

*demonstrate superior protection in certain highly loaded valve-train components
*minimise oil consumption and boost oil pressure in big bore engines
*provide race-winning protection, tough enough to handle a hard driving style
*assist in maintaining optimum oil pressure in large displacement high performance engines
*comply with the Australian Motor Industry agreed phosphorous limits for prolonged catalyst and oxygen sensor life
*minimise wear on roller can followers and roller rocker valve trains

Meets:SAE 25W-50, API SG/CD.
