Unlimited budget MOTEC. (it really is a mine is bigger than yours thing)
Followed by Autronic, UTEC, ECUTek, PossumLink, UniChip in decending order of cost. If I was on a budget of around $1500 I would personally get this PossumLink 2nd hand. http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/sale/1207-fs-my01-performance-parts-inc-link-engine-control-unit-44s-exhaust-tmic.html And get either RMS or MMS to tune it. You will get good results without going stupid with costs. Quite a few members on here have Possums with good results, regardless of the review you may have read. I cannot stress enough it all depends on the tuner. Jamie Last edited by WRXTASY; 10-09-2005 at 10:26 AM. Reason: Unwanted URL |

I would recommend the Link ECU. I had great gains with a good tune on mine. As mentioned above a few surges now and again but other than that ver happy.
I have never had experience with a MoTeC but have heard from people in the US especially that it leaves everything else for dead if done properly. don't mean to hijack, but has anybody used the USB link to the Link ECU? Is it worth looking into to run different maps for street, drags, etc? Cheers |

How much extra is the wire in version? over the normal price of PnP motec. The only problem with buying the wire in so you can take it over to the next car....is whether the next cars computer doesnt already have a very good ecu solution... take the LS1/holdens for example.
The LS1 EDIT tunes on those are superb. Completely factory idle with great mapping etc. I had one in my v8 and it was factory except in the performance. For a car like that ... motec might make 3% diff vs LS1 EDIT. The only area I can imagine an improvement vs edit would be in temperature compensation... on a subaru it makes heaps because the stock computer is so bad when reflashed and it has more bells and whistles for antilag etc. So if you had a wire in it would be wasted if your next car was like the LS1 computer. Easily reflashed in real time on a dyno, with factory results.

but simon your argument is null .. you could sell the wire in motec if you for some reason wanted a land barge, and probably get a higher premium for it

Who are the best link tuners in Perth? Considering a possumlink due to budget atm. Does link use the factory AFM?
