I have got 120K on the OE clutch still Shudders in the morning when it's stone cold, but soon as she's warm it's all good, no slip, holding back 200kw, wonder how long it's got left!

Pretty sure the shudder is fairly common.

I've seen people wear out clutches in STOCK WRXs in 20000km.

When you run your passes, can you smell the clutch burn from take off and gear changes?

factory built in clutch shudder FTW!

both my 98 Wrx and my vi Sti shudder when cold.....

Funny but neither of my RS's did.

I'm led to believe that the 98 0n wrx's and Sti's have a harder clutch friction material to get better life out of the clutch / handle slipped launches etc without going up in smoke.

If I baby it to much and slip it it is bad. If I just step off it and get the wheels to spin then no smell at all. Don't drop it but try not to slip it much at all.

Same as Balistic multiple 12 second passes. As much hills driving as I could fit in in Tassie and Adelaide and about 57K km. Reckon about 1/2 of that is highway on cruise control though to balance it out a bit.

Will definitely stick with the stock 6 speed clutch when it finally gives up. Can't see anything else doing better.

Guess it all comes down to how you drive and how much shit you give your clutch.

2001 WRX
Clutch Organic H/Duty 5spd $440
Clutch release bearing $95
Bearing clutch spigot $10
Air by pass gasket 01+ $15
Flush gears HLS SAE 75W/90 1L $24

+ Chrome moly 5spd flywheel $650

Cost $1666 inc Labour.

I just got the car from previous owner who had this stuff done last October.

And it feels like the clutch is gone again. Can anyone say gear smasher???
