Default Splitter gasket

Is this worth installing when i do my upgrade , i think it would work ?

this is what they say :Another of the Custom Exhaust Specialists' creations is the interchangeable Boost Enhancer Plate which is the key to directing gas flow in the dump pipes. This plate sits comfortably within the turbine housing, acting to split the waste gate gas from the rest of the exhaust.

IIRC, you told me that these are like $200 right? Just thinking about it. It would be much cheaper to get a workshop to weld in a plate like that into the dump pipe flange and it would be a whole lot cheaper.

FYI RMS recently quoted me $100-$200 to install a splitter into the dump pipe. Will let you know what it works out to actually be once I get the work done.

Need to make sure that the splitter is the right length for your turbo though - I wouldn't be looking for a "one size fits all" solution here.

So what's the go...is the splitter really worth it in the end???
I had one in my XT and installed a VF34 at the same time...the bastard just kept over boosting and wouldn't come down....the tuner blamed the splitter so I ripped it out and put it back on the dyno.....ditto still the same. Turns out the crappy P18 housing was the culprit....have now sourced and ported a P20 to put on my VF34 but i'm not sure if I should try a splitter again or not?

Michael South over on Rexnet swears by them and incorperates them into all his modded dump pipes....I think it gives better top end?!?!

it does give slightly better top end but really the difference is pretty small compared to a bell mouth design dump pipe. It reduces turbulence when exhaust gases from the turbine and wastegate mix.

The splitter keeps the gases separated because of the way the wastegate opens. Normally wastegate gases take an immediate 90 degree turn and cause turbulence with the gases coming out of the turbine.

The splitter forces the wastegate gases to "straighten" out and mix further down reducing turbulence and hence increase flow when the wastgate is open.

This can't cause a restiction to the gasses coming out of the wastegate can it? thereby creating boost creep?

My brain tells me 'it will be ok, it was the shitty P18 housing that caused the drama not the splitter' but my heart & wallet say 'do you want to risk it'?

Just don't know if I should put one in again or not....can't afford to get onto the dyno again to find it caused a drama....then its back on a hoist, pull everything off and cut the splitter out again

EDIT. I've got a bell mouth dump NOT one of those split dumps
