if it were the oil seal, it would keep smoking even after its hot. Im thinking maybe the valve stem seals. How long does it smoke for after the first cold crank?

for a couple of mins , it does not do it right away , does it after about 20 seconds , then goes away when the car is up to about 1/4 normal operating temp

well depending on what oil you have it does take around 10 to 20 seconds to build full oil pressure from a cold start.

I suppose it could be a turbo seal. But the only way to know for sure in your case may to take off the dump pipe and see if there is any old coating the turbines.

Take off your intercooler and see if there is any oil pooled up inside there. If not then your cold side oil seals are okay.

Take off your dump pipe and check for oil on the o2 sensor and turbine wheel. If not.

Do you have a catch can? Is it recirculating or not? Is it full?

It could be something to do with oil in the vapour lines coming from the crank case breather line. Oil pooled in there may get sucked up on cold start and it blows smoke until the pooled oil is gone.

Try this. When cold and blowing smoke. start accelerating and generate a little bit of boost. only 1 or 2 psi is necessary, just enough to close the PCV valve. If the smoke stops for a second. Then you have a oil buildup issue in your oil breather lines.

Im getting the exact same thing. Nothing at first then it warms up a lil a cloud of smoke. I put it down to condensation on these cold mornings. But im not sure. Could it be something bad?

are you positive its oil, or condensate & exhaust soot?
do you park near sprinklers, on a slope?

it might be condensation ... i pulled out the intercooler today and had a look for oil and it was all good , started the car in the garage and ran it , black splaters came out but it looked like it was water with soot in it?

i have only had smoke when its been parked at work , dont get it at home but the platering exhaust is new?
