Default Help me decide on exhaust and FMIC

Gday all

Looking at doing some basic performance mods to my MY02 bugeye and would like your input/recommendations.

Exhaust - currently I have a cat-back which has a really nice note and not overly loud. I want to go turbo-back. Is it possible to replace just the turbo-cat piping or will I be struggling to find parts?

If I replace the full system here are my options so far -

2nd hand HKS Full Hi power exhaust, 3" dump pipe hi flow cat - approx $900
$500+ Ebay kits such as http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....7726&rd=1&rd=1

FMIC - currently have the stock TMIC and turbo. Looking at turbo upgrade later.

Options so far -

Jshop Bar & Plate- $450
HYBRID Intercooler Kit - Tube & Fin Drift Spec incl SABER stainless steel mesh air filter, high flow cold air intake pipe & Air Flow Meter pipe included in the kit. http://www.powerdigger.com/wrx%20gdb%20kit.htm - $1050

Once again any feedback is appreciated and feel free to reocommend other products or suppliers etc.

Cheers,
Dazza

No advantage in running FMIC over TMIC in stock boost applications. Upgrade to a bigger TMIC instead. FMIC with no boost increast = lag IMO

Yes you can minimise lag with FMIC by mounting it upside down, smaller piping, reverse mainfold etc. but if u want bang for ur buck go bigger TMIC

Are you going to upgrade the turbo some time soon? If not stick with a larger TMIC. Maybe get some water spray if you want even better cooling.

As for exhaust. I recommend Dylan's TBE systems for $650. But do a search, there is plenty of info in a dozens of other threads.

If I can find a VF34 and P20 housing at the right price then yes I will be upgrading the turbo soon.

there is a reason why bar and plate intercoolers are cheap.

Sti top mount will do...but, if you really want a front mount, scout around for a 2nd hand genuine FMIC "kit" (HKS, TRUST, whatever...)

Well no point getting a STi TMIC as he has stated he is going to upgrade thhe turbo later anyway.

You can like pete said, reduce the FMIC piping length to reduce the turbo lag. What im doing now, and the way i see it, im setting myself up so i can put a nice turbo on it, and wind the boost up.

I have one of Dylans exhausts, and NEVER had a problem with it. Great note, looks nice (personally anywayz). Throttle response from a TMIC will always be greater, but it can only handle so much psi before becoming inefficient (do correct me if im wrong, i am also still learning ).

TMIC vs FMIC. who cares. hes asking for advice on a FMIC not a top mount!!

there is a guy in perth on the rslc forums that does short piping installs for front mounts. from what i here they are absolutely awesome. xeon has one on his rs. if you ask xeon he would let you know who did it, and its a decent price.

i have an xforce 3inch SS high flow cat and dump sitting at home that im gonna sell, but i dont think it will fit.
IMO dont go for a cheap ebay replica, you want the best for your rexy.
subaru aint no hyundai you know.
