Default Inside polars 2.5 pics FYI

Allstar are well on the way to getting my baby back and running. Heads are off and looks like the head gasket in one cylinder was leaking badly into the coolant. Other than that the engine looks fine.

Has some sort of head studs. I think they are ARP but if anyone can confirm this would be helpful. Keep in mind that if they are ARP they are probably a very old design from at least 2002 when engine was built.

Need to try and find out what they are to get correct torque settings. ANy techheads know?

Simon ARP are the most well known and longest well known supplier of head studs, so it would be a sure bet that they are of that brand.

Just give PMS a call im sure they would be able to track down suppliers in 2002. It shouldnt be too hard for them.

So did u look at the bores? how did they look, out of round at all or still in smicko condition?

Are u porting the heads? what type of retainers and springs are u using? Are they real jun cams or profile copies??

The bores looked perfect.... not a mark on them and looked perfectly straight. Once the engine surfaces are cleaned it will look like new. The pistons looked very tight inside the bore though maybe they all look that tight?

What would torque settings be on "plain old ARP" studs or does it vary massively.

Tino: Just servicing the heads, Cosworth 272 cams + springs and then back onto the car. No porting. Heads look like a good casting and they are standard 2L.

All pistons "look" tight...how did the cross hatch on the bores look? Is it still fairly visible?

If they are ARPs, ASG will know the setting as they install ARPs in all their motors, but as Tino said, ring PMS to find out for sure.

Also, find out from Robin @ PMS what he would have possibly set the ring gap to, and then get Nic to check your top ring gap. You'll get a pretty good indication on how worn the rings are.

simon u might find the heads may end up being restrictive in the upper revs. remember 2ltr heads for a 2.5ltr displacement. You might as well save the cash for later as the engines out and go nuts... then all u will have to do is chuck on the 35R which u REALLY want....

I am not after world record dyno power... this is my daily driver.

So I figure if the 2L heads can flow me up to around 380@hubs that is enough for me.

Anything thats north of 360 and held as far to redline as possible will make me very happy.

With my new much bigger turbo, new springs, new cams, new tune .... i should hopefully beat my 342@hubs hehe.
