Default Turbo recond ( Performanz)

Anyone used Performanz turbo chargers to get a turbo rebuilt?

I got my VF25 recond because it had a mm or 2 of shaft play and when I got it back it was nicely painted and cleaned but the shaft play was still there?

Should I take it back you think?

shaft play moving the shaft in and out in unacceptable. But a little bit of sideways movement is normal as long as it is less than 1mm of movement and the blades do not touch the compressor housing. That sideways slack is taken up by the oil film between the core and the shaft when the engine is on and oil pressure is normal.

thats correct for a oil journal turbo, (TD04,05)

any movement up and down the shaft (no pun intended) is bad and is the beginning of the seals letting go. the main cause of this is a restrictive inlet putting extra stress on the turbine / compressor wheels against the bearings/journal.

any sideways movement is tell tale of previous oil starvation, or running hot (no cool down time given)

divided thrust bearing (VF35/30)
sideways movement is acceptable if the blades cannot contact the housing.
movement up and down is unnacceptable, usually due to restricitive inlet or over pressured oil.

roller bearing (VF23, 24, 28, 29, 34, 37, 39, 43)
sideways movement is acceptable if the blades cannot contact the housings.
movement up and down is unnacceptable, usually due to restricitive inlet or over pressured oil, or wrong viscosity oil.

This turbo is a B4 rsk primary, (Vf25) and I was told it is a ball bearing design?
It only has 1mm side to side movement.
