depends on the kit too. Where did you mount your ballasts Ed ?

Trying moving the ballasts and see if that is creating the issue.

Why should ballast location impact anything? They're completely sealed and secure at present.

Get the earthing kit Ed, I think thats going to be the best option(as long as its not too exxy)

Yeah cheers Jimmy (and also for your PM's) I'll get one installed ASAP. Cheapest I found is $160 for a Raisin. Hope fitting is costs are minimal.

Well unless the balast is enclosed in metal or some sort of electrical segregation, they could be inducing false voltages into other cables and causing lights to come on.

This is a known error on high end cars (such as some Mercs,BMWs) when aftermarket HIDs are fitted... a relay with a capacitor is available that will cancel the warning lights for $25.
