Default Internal gate screaming with twin dump?

Hey,

Im looking to get a new dump pipe and have decided on a twin dump design(BPM).

http://www.bpmsports.com/products/td.htm

My question is, would it be possible to make the internal gate scream by chopping the wastegate pipe and blocking off the hole where the wastegate pipe would plumb back into the exhaust pipe?
OR would u get leaks and other problems?

Im just CONSIDERING this idea and would do it if it will definitly work with no probs, if not, i wont be chopping up a brand new dump pipe.
Im just trying to get the screamer sound more than anything, i know i wont get gains by doing this ..

Any help or input would be much appreciated.

Cheers
-Nick

It probably would sound quite like a proper external gate with a screamer pipe.

Try it. What have you got to lose? A $400 dump pipe? Which can be rewelded and returned back to original condition anyway.

hmm yeah i was thinking that i could TRY it and re weld everything back to original if it doesnt work but wouldnt that weaken the pipe at the welds and make it more prone to rust?

It could weaken the pipes if not done properly, but its not like theres a huge amount of forces being projected onto that part of the exhaust pipe. There shouldn't be much, if any, in the way of pressure in the exhaust post turbo.

Anyone who cuts up a brand new $400 dump pipe to get an internal wastegate scream, is a dumb shit.

HEY! I'm not the one who wants to do it. My dump pipe is just fine the way it is.

If he's got money to blow and is willing to take the risk. I'm certainly not going to stop him. Hell, I'll even encourage such a brave endevour just to see what it turns out sounding like.

If you can get your hands on a cheap second hand twin splitter dump pipe, try your experimentation on that. That way if it doesn't turn out the way you like, you can just put your old dump pipe back on and be back on your way.

Why not test it with an old dump pipe first.. Got mine for sale if you like, $50 maybe?

It's off an 06 STi. You can chop that up just for kicks before you go forking out for, and mutilating a brand new $400 dump pipe.

If I recall, Denver did it a few years ago. It worked. Didn't sound EXACTLY like an external gate, but the effect was there.
