Default My Wrx Vs. his 300ZX Twin...HELP!

A mate of mine has challenged me to a Whoop arse Wednesday drag.
I got 99 wrx with 3 inch exhaust and hks filter. He's got 300 zx twin turbo. Don't want to let the WRX brigade down. Is his car gonna crap on mine down the quarter? What can I do to help my quarter mile time. Is winding up the tubo my only option. what else can I do for around $1000.00? Thanks in advance ;-)

for one 1k get an electronic boost controller and boost it to 17psi. but it'd be a waste if you wanna buy an ecu later down the track.

stock vs stock, theyd be pretty even regardless. u just gotta launch it hard and use yah 4wd

there are no rules or guidelines on what u can do to the car isn't it? i'm not an expert or anything along those lines, but nos sounds like a crazy but workable idea..... just don't blow anything up.

I think he's got an trick exhaust, the same one that was on it when he bought it. other than that I think it's pretty stock.

I have seen some second hand ecu's floating around in the For Sale section, both on this forum and another popular WRX one. You could grab one of those, and a boost controller (probably manual) and up the boost to around 17psi for some same (car wise) fun in the sun in your....not really new dirt racer?

if you lose theres something wrong. I have hosed ppl with double my horsepower over a quarter mile simply coz they a. dont launch well b. too much wheelspin

theres no excuse for a bad launch in a wrx and you should definatly be able to keep him behind you till 160-170 and thats where the 1/4 mile will end
