Go see the usual suspects:

North of the river: John @ Wheels World
South of the river: Shane @ Exley's

Both guys are great and can recommend good tyres.

depends on weight of your car...
im running 888's ('GG' compound) and that suits the weighty Pig STi (1500kg) and they handle whatever you throw at them. On my 2nd set ATM.
I will be open minded and give the RE55's ago when i have run the 888's out!

Mark @ Baywater tyres the man to see for Toyo's.
also give John @ Wheels World a go for anything else...

Depends how competitive you want to be. They are all around the same price for a new set.

I run the medium compound dunlops. Got about 300 km out of my first set. At $1700 a set that is about $5.50 a km. Having said that I have got a dutton and still have heaps of tread left out of the next set. they all tend to disintegrate if you get too much heat into them. i.e. sustained laps out at wanneroo.

John at Wheels World can get you virtually any R Comp (including Toyo 888's)...one stop shop.
There are also the new Silverstone FTZ RR's from MMS.

Go see Kerry Wade @ Bentley Bridgestone for RE55's - nearly $70 per tyre cheaper than anyone else.

Bought a set of Toyo 888's from Wheels World for the occasional driver training/track day. Very happy with the grip and the wear so far (which is why I just bought another second hand spare set).
John recommended them as the Toyo's are symmetrical and can be spun on the rim. The outer edge of the tyre wears faster so if you can change them on the rim you will wear the face of the tyre more evenly. Important if you want them to last a year or more.
