Thumbs up Boost controller

hey just wondering ive got a Stock 2002 Bugeye WRX and i was hoping to get a boost controller.. how much boost can the stock engine handle exactly? ive heard it can handle maximum 1.2 bar. if so even if i do set the boost to that amount i hear the ECU wont even let me go over 1 bar so the boost controller is useless?

any help would be great

I wouldn't be upping the boost without some supporting mods, such as a uprated fuel pump .. And some sort of a tune.

Do a search, lots of info on this topic.

Hrmm yeah i went to subaru... to ask the engineer they reakon it can handle maximum 1.2 bar.. but im thinking ive got to upgrade that bonnet scoop for abit more cooling, Quite alot of people jack their boost with stock end motors and ive never heard anybody had alot of problems. im not quite sure. ive got a mate hes running 1.4 bar on stock end (not the smartest thing to do at that amount....) he said it was alright as long as you dont give it to much shit. But yeah i think jacking up the boost you would need to do other upgrades, ill do a search but yeah alot of mixed opinions, thought i'd come here and ask alittle

yeah, i think 20 psi (1.37 bar) is a safe max but i know that some people on here are running more than that as long as you have enough fuel being supplied to the engine the as a general rule you should be ok!!

surely he's not serious...

Dude, save yourself the humiliation that is about to ensue, and use the search button.
You're not the first person to ask this exact question, and definately wont be the first to be shot down in flames.

Go for 2bar with just the boost controller. Dont listen to anybody telling you to get a tune and fuel pump etc. Get a pod filter in the engine bay and she will go nuts.

you'd prolly be better served just removing the bonnet all together. just head to your local pits and ask them for the 'no bonnet' permit.
