research 'vaccupan' systems too, not quite a dry sump, but its a similar principle.

Also, if you really do want to rev it...look at your crank. Might be worth having it cross drilled like the Cosworth crank, to increase journal oiling.

So many considerations, depending on what you really want to do with it.

and it doesn't cost that much either! add a decent oil filter to go with it and your already infront!

im thinking outloud ramon, so others can learn.. hahah

yeh i spoke to nick about that, and he wasnt convinced that it is neccessary.. He rekons it may actually weaken the crank...

i only want to rev it to 8rpms.. want to be making power to around 7500rpms with the cossie cams...

hard for people to "learn" when everyone on here has bolt-on bandido biases or the BOBB as i call them! i love boobs but can't stand bobb's. they waste my time and make my iq drop by a few points everytime i read what they say as replies.

if your serious tino, pm me and ill take you through step by step.

8000rpm isn't too bad, as long as your oil pump is up to it. Look at a brand new 12mm factory pump with extra shims, or even a Cosworth modified OEM pump as a minimum. If you want to spend a bit more, JUN or Cosworth high volume pumps are probably a better choice. Dry sump is the ultimate of course

When you start pushing 8500rpm, it becomes a problem.

The bearings tend to get starved on the side of the journal where there is no oil hole, due to the oil film breaking down because of centrifugal force.

Cross drilling crank is necessary for 8500rpm+, and most people would probably tuftride or nitride the crank to strengthen it after drilling. All this costs money though, and its just another option that you have to weigh up.

Many aftermarket cranks have the cross-drilling as standard.

No one said modifying engines was easy

thus we come back to using a 3 stage dry-sump pump! high volume blue-printed factory pump as your pickup and the rest just falls into place!

Tino - how much track work do you really expect to do? By track work I mean 4-5 consecutive hot laps are Barbagallo/Collie, whereby the engine will be under sustained high load for 4-6 minutes at a time.

Drag runs are only 10-13 secs, MC's are 40-50sec (usually only 1st-3rd gear) - even the long track sprints at AHG are single lappers (1.5-2mins max).

Possibly the most under-driven Evo X in the world??

Intersting replies fellas keep them up...

Fred, im not sure about wanners as of yet, as i would want to increase by driving skills before attempting anything of size..

So yeah it will only see the events u listed, which wouldnt be putting a huge strain on the engine for large periods of time....

I dont think that the car would be making anymore power above 8000 rpms so it would only see above this amount for very brieft periods of time i would think...

Joe, im getting some extra shims for my sti pump for the time being..

So if i get the dry sump, then would the oil pump (i.e cossie one) be required???
