Default Fuel leakage

I just noticed that my MY99 i am leaking fuel. Does anyone know how much this is going to cost me to fix?
I just bought the car off a dealer in Vic park just a couple of weeks ago, i still have the warranty, so i will try and get them to fix it for me. but does this go under wear and tear? because if it does then i won't be able to claim it.

these pictures were taken after i discovered that the car was leaking, by the time i got back with a camera to take the photo it was dry. i think the "white/black spots" is where the fuel leaks out but not too sure. any help is appreciate guys. Thanks!!!

mikey

If its running down the side of the tank where the fuel pump is (drivers side), I'd say its a dodgy tank seal around the fuel pump assembly, causing the fuel to slosh out around corners. If so, then its a cheap and easy fix

If I were you, I'd try your dealer warranty. Tell them its a dangerous problem and they should fix it...play the "unroadworthy, fire hazard" card, and they may listen to you.

Sometime what happens when replacing a fuel pump. The gasket that seals the Tank with the fuel pump assembly gets folded over or misaligned when putting the fuel pump assembly back in.

Problem is theres not much room to see what your doing when putting a fuel pump assembly back in when your working on a sedan because of the back seats. No problems with Wagons though, you just fold the seats forward and sit in the wagon space.

no wonder my car smelt like fuel when i first got it... i thought it would have been the fuel tank but never saw any leaking and brought it to City Subaru to do a service on it but they never said anything bout it so i didn't think much of it.
