Buy a complete early GC8 WRX engine from Ichiban for about $1000. Drop that in. Done. Probably looking at about $2K for supply, freight, and labour.

Or If you want to get something a little more...

Buy a complete V3 STI engine. Swap your intake manifold over onto the V3 Engine. Bolt it in. Done. Closer to $4K for this engine swap. But its a much much much better engine. Worth it if youve got the extra dosh.

Another option – I know someone, well it’s me, who will have a GC8 block available early in December. I expect it to be in good condition. Not sure yet if the heads will also be available.
