I was getting an extra 2psi of boost with the addition of an Apexi Power Intake on my 94 model... Granted the intake on the earlier models was more restricted but i think its safe to say you'll still receive an increase... as far as brands go... I fully rate the Apexi gear.. But have used K&N with great success in the past... If you need somewhere to purchase where you wont get ripped off... come down to Motoquipe in Floreat... We'll look after ya!

not sure about your models , but with the uk my99 it is always advised not to use an induction kit. because of the maff censor. apparently the ones on 99 cars onwards (classic shape) are very fragile & the rush of air from an induction is just to much for them, & so they tend not to last very long.
my car had a k&n induction kit fitted when i bought it , but i have now removed it & fitted the original airbox with a dry highflow pannel filter. ( ive only had my car 5 months & it did in 2 maff censors.) its been ok since i chaged it back.
also with no noticeable loss of power. just cant hear the factory fitted dumpvalve anymore thats all. spose its an excuse to buy a new one eh !

Make sure it fits both before you rush out & buy.
Yeah I agree the K&N filter required is a weird size like 4 1/4" and only justs fits in the cramped size inside the frout guard, i doubt you will find another brand filter that will fit on a APS CAI.

Is it worth changing the std intake to add an apexi power intake into the engine bay?

i.e. is changing the std air box to a pod filter sitting in the engine bay worth doing? or should i do all of it with piping into the guard?

Im using Apexi power intake and never had any problems with it.
Only thing is that the blow off came off from my air filter at low boost.

quite cool though

hmm seems there is a risk of AFM damage by merely changing the air filter. it just doesnt sound like its worth it?

merely over oiling an air filter will damage the afm...changing it to a 'better' one wont harm it at all.

alcw - where do u have the filter positioned? is it in the engine bay or in the inner guard?

if it's in the guard, where did u get the piping from?
