Further to this if anyone is interested, I managed to speak to someone at Fulcrum Australia today (the ones who modified the Jap Spec SS coilovers).

They've told me that they simply changed the springs rates and valving to suit Australian roads and that even though pillowball mounts would be harsher, they believe the differences they've made with the spring rates should make it negligible.
