Walbro and AFM question
guys, some people have said when fitting a walbro fuel pump, to re use the stock fuel filter ? is this the way to go ? and whats wrong with the one that is supplied with the walbro ?
also, got my link in now so no need for my AFM. is it worth removing it ? what would you use to plug the hole up ? or would u just replace the whole section of the intake pipe where the afm is located ? thanks Wade |

probably replace the whole pipe where the AFM was.
as for the pump the sock given with the walbro pump is tiny compared to the stock one, therefore restricting it a bit!! so yes re-use the stock one

I reused my sock filter when I fitted my walbro. I have heard some people having surging issues using the walbro sock filter and when fuel levels drop below 1/4 tank.
yes. remove the AFM. If its not being used then its just a restriction (not much though). Plug the hole or replace the whole pipe. It doesn't matter. But I'd replace the pipe so as to have a nice smooth intake and minimise any possible turbulence.

ok done...also, im changing the pump over now...ive been supplied wiring and compared it with the wiring on the factory pump. on the factory wiring it has 2 more wires spliced off it. Is there any splicing required with these ? it doesnt say anything about it in the instructions ?

As for AFM best is to get silicon inlet and the another silcon bit and just put a pod on the end better flow aswell.

STi and WRX fuel sock are same.
The later model Walbro's have the big sock, so its okay to use the Walbro one as long as its the type that has a large sock... You'll be able to tell if you have the small one, when you put it next to the Subaru one. If its around the same size, then its the big one. If its 1/3 of the size, its the small sock. |
