Default Rear diff?????

Hey guys.

I just bought a wrx from s.a and tried to get it registered for w.a yesterday, and with the vast amount of mods on the car, the only thing I have to change/rectify is my dogbox

I have a spare 5-speed sti box with 4.44 gears that i'm chucking in tomorrow, but I don't know wheather the rear diff on the car at the moment is 4.11/4.44?

Is there anyway, just by looking at a rear diff whilst still on the car, could anyone possibly find out what the ratio's/final drive etc are, as it would be easier for my mech not to have to change the diff aswell, or am I doomed?

Cheers.

Mat

mate thats unusual, when i got engineering certs for the wagon, the engineer listed the dogbox and the pits had no hassles. If you get an initial inspection in writing from an engineer 9 out of 10 times the pits won't question it. In the end it still fits in the oem casing and changes gears, the only reason would 'possibly' be noise, but that would be hard to gauge as im sure it doesnt emit 89db+.

Don't know to tell you the truth. Though, there are some numbers and letters embroided in it, i'll have to re check and get back on that one, but, on the other hand what should they be if they were to be 4.11/4.44?

Cheers

It states "rectify crashing gear changes"??

More like change gears faster
So yeah it wasn't cause the whining noise, but cause he can't change fast enough.
