I needed top set gasket. Apparantly JDM and aussie spec are different. My mechanic tried 6 different types of subaru gaskets and could not fit. Tried to contact Regent Subaru as well but they are not sure.

Thanks for all input

Different or not, I got my top end gasket set from Regents for my JDM heads and JDM EJ207 block, and they fit fine

I am really having trouble seeing that a JDM 2.0ltr 03 WRX head gasket is not the same as an 2.0ltr 99-05 Oz WRX/STI EJ205/207.

I would say your mechanic does not know what he is doing.

I too have Oz 2.0ltr EJ205/207 gasket's on my 02 JDM EJ207 short block / heads and they fit fine.

Just get the 01-05 Oz WRX EJ205 gaskets and you will be fine. See a specialised Subi workshop if you have too

He might be having trouble matching the little bitty water jacket holes in the gasket to the great big holes in the block and head.....
