Default Interior Illumination fault when pressing brake - HELP!

I havent been driving my car much lately, but I'm sure it wasnt doing this last time I drove it -

When I press the brake, the dash lights and transmission gear select lights (auto) etc all light up. Any ideas?? It had been blowing brake globes prior to this if that could be related.

Cheers
Josh

I can guanrantee that someone has fitted a single fillament globe to your stop/tail light on one side. What happens is the single (central) terminal on the globe joins both the stop and tail circuits inside the lamp. Stop/tail should be a twin terminal 21watt/5watt bulb commonly referred to as a 380 bulb. Change the offending bulb back to a 380 and your problems are over.

Yeah, was thinking of doing that today. The 'spiffy' aftermarket headlights have been flickering a bit too every now and then so I'll check them as well.

Seriously check stop tail globes. Even twin filament can do this when 1 blows and touches against the other.
