Sorry I didnt explain myself correctlty. What I meant was that the K&N cold air tube can be removed and the filter can be clamped onto the tube located in the engine compartment as shown on the K&N installation sheet attached. My concern is changing this over to suit weather conditions is easy to do it yourself?

Changing from having the pod in the guard to having the pod in the engine bay would be pritty easy. The initial install of removing the airbox and putting in the CAI would be easy to DIY aswell.

To remove the cold air pipe and relocate the pod, all you will have to do is:
Remove the drivers side wheel, pull back the guard inner lining to access the pipe, unbolt 1 or 2 bolts holding the pipe in place and remove it, pull the pod off this pipe and re-attach it to the intake pipe inside the engine bay.
It shouldnt be too hard to do but as mentioned earlier in the thread, water shouldnt be an issue as the pod would have a pre-filter which would diffuse the water before it gets to the engine, just avoid big deep puddles.

Check out the APS and process west cold air intakes, they sit just in the fender, out of the engine bay but not low to the ground. Water and puddles will be NO issue with them intakes.

Very simple... DIY for sure if you have any screwdriving skills...

I changed from the standard air box in my STi to the Process West with K&N - no hp gain but increased torque by 10nm. Stuff all really - makes a cool induction/sucking noise though ftmfw!
