Default Brake Pad Knock Off

Gday long time between threads but havnt had any probs till now!!
Getting excessive brake pad knock off in my 03sti which results in low brake pedal has anyone else had this prob and if so is there a valve or something that can be installed in the lines to prevent this happening.
Only happens after hard cornering (of course) so is excessive flex in the disks and bearings i would say. Is there maybe a better disk for the sti to eliminate flexing??
Cheers
Steve.

Never had it happen to me. Either your wheel bearings are worn out, CV nuts are loose, or your rotors are slightly warped.

Either way, the disc has no chance of flexing at the hub. The hub could flex though

Knock-Off is usually associated with wheel bearing issues. There are some solutions - There are anti knock-off kits available from STi which is basically a seal and spring kit that once fitted to the caliper helps keep the brake pads at the right clearance to the rotor.

A DIY pressurisation test of the brake system is also recommended.

Had this on my MY02 STi. The problem was one of the wheel bearing retaining nuts got loose (even though it has a lock over it) causing knock off after cornering. This is not that uncommon a problem. If both nuts are tight, then it could be a wheel bearing.
Pretty easy to check...just jack up and check for play...there should be none.

Thanks guys will check the wheel bearings first then maybe look at the anti knock off kit too.

Do it Yourself Brake System pressure test.

It can be as simple as a tyre valve glued into the brake fluid reservoir pumped up by a bike pump - Although maintaining a good seal can be difficult with the OEM cap.

Normally 0.3-0.4 bar is enough. Don't over pressure as this will cause the brakes to drag which will result in prematurely overheating the brakes.

From my god book.
