Default aircon drains car + notchy gearbox

Hi all thought I would try the internet mechanics before I got off my ass and took it somewhere for a look.

Anyone find that their aircon in these hot days makes taking off a bitch? Got an 02 STI and find taking off from standstill makes car bog down? Is it fairly common, I know aircon drains power but just doesnt seem right.

And also changing gears feels very notchy, I know my clutch is pretty rooted (binding up I have been told) but changing gears sometimes is also a pain, feels very clunky, could it be time for a new clutch?

Thanks

1. Turbo cars doesn't like it when its hot, especially when the TMIC is heat soaked.
Solution 1: Get a water spray installed
Solution 2 (and probably not ideal): Go FMIC

2. When was the last time you changed the gearbox oil?
Might be an idea to pull the dipstick out and check. Its under your TMIC

Typical MY02 issue with A/C on...you just have to live with it!
Try a gearbox oil change...eg redline smurf...

Yes they have a spray, but it's manual...but easy to change to auto.

sound normal to me from when i had an 02 STI - massive power drain and clunky/jerky gear change when AC engaged.

Be very careful checking G/B oil level...the car must be absolutely level to get an accurate reading...even a small slope can affect the reading....
