Default What have I broken v2567

The fact Ive started a thread spouting that Ive broken the car wont surprise many

Anyhow - Id say its terminal.

Story - 10pm Sat night, 4th gear 70kmh off boost, apply slight throttle, hear a every so slight rattle. Does it in every gear... which is how my last gearbox started its death. Someone suggested worn clutch rubbing or flywheel issues..

Noise slowly worsened, got the thing home, and its definitely not a slight knock now.

Like I said, its terminal, im guessing big ends?

Motor was a second hand imported motor from a Legacy GT twin turbo. 56 000km showing on the dash, compression test was excellent ie 156-160. Run on .95 bar max, always on 98 fuel.

Had the thing 3 months and two days at time of doom, and had done about 3200km in it.

To answer a couple of questions - no oil pressure light has come on at any time, and it does work.

Let the discussion begin

TJ

Well im sure thats a discussion point broken all the time car boi

As for the reasoning all the main effects would result in a drop in oil pressure you would think. Unless something is slowly disinegrating and still able to maintain pressure??

when its replaced, i'd suggest a CAREFUL examination of the tune, and the fuel/ignition system. 'could' be a sign of an issue thats not directly motor related.

What makes you come to that conclusion?

It went on the dyno after swap, afr's more then safe.

Furthermore Joe, my first motor did not suffer a bottom end related death.

Radiator got a hole, replaced radiator with a second hand one, which was later found to be defective, which in turn caused me to do a head gasket. It was cheaper for me at the time to swap motors then fix head gaskets.

Had the first motor died a similar death, Id be alot more concerned.

Sounds like my old engine, big end bearing, worked for a while afterwards too lol. Mine died because PSI didnt fix my crank properly.
