Default Water Pump

Well, sorry about the new thread but I said car was fine with the new radiator so no one will read it...

I put the new radiator in today, had it running fine, but then just before it overheated again.

Once again, straight to the overflow bottle, and steaming it's nads off.

I've put new radiator, new hoses, new coolant, and new thermostat (although there was a small leak from the housing, I couldn't tighten it tonight). Could this cause it to lose a bit of fluid?

Now, the question is, could my water pump be fucked? Whilst driving, I put the heater on and it's cold air. The car is due for a service (100,000) so I guess the water pump could be dead. Anyone got any thoughts?

Whilst it was full (after installing the new radiator and running the coolant in), it was boosting fine and driving 100% normal. Somewhere along the line, I don't think the coolant is reaching the engine causing it to boil and go to the overflow. Both top and bottom radiator hoses are hot, as is the radiator and the thermo's come on.

Should I run a flush through to see if there's a blockage somewhere? Going to take it up to Tenagh in the morning. Any idea's would be sweet.

PS. Don't say head gasket

head gasket.

That small leak on the thermostat housing can become quite a piss stream when the coolant is hot and under pressure.

Take it to Tenagah and let them do the work. You're probably going to do things another two times over otherwise.

Yeah I kinda of figured lol. It was only dripping after I finished doing the radiator. But obviously it can piss out hard under pressure as you say!

Well from the weekend experience and captain fails car going wrong, he had a very simular problem. Either Water pump or thermostat housing is said to be the culprit, neither of which are easy to get to.

If it is coming up for its 100k service that means new timing belt. If the timing belt is off anyways it is cheap and easy to put a new water pump in aswell. One less thing to go wrong.

Yep, if I can figure it's not the water pump now, it will be done at 100k service.

It's strange, that the car when I put the new radiator and coolant in, and took it for a drive, actualy drove the same. As Tom said, I let it idle @ 3k (Screwdriver wedged in throtlebody) and I checked the back for smoke from exhaust, and there was none.

I've been doing some reading, and I don't think I have done the Thermostat housing up properly and I don't think I have bled the system properly. Will take it to Tenagh ASAP.
