How much cheaper is it than PPG? Because 6 speeds are getting real cheap and they are even stronger than a built 5 speed. You can pick up a non-DCCD 6 speed for under $5K these days.

I've used Albins gears for years, so has Tony Flood. I'd rate them as good as PPG they just are not marketed as well as PPG outside of motorsport. I have broken a 5th and a second gear in 4 seasons of hard core rallying using synchro helical group 'N' gears. I currently have a straight cut Albins dog drive (all 5 gears) but in a road car I wouldn't go past a 6MT. Less stuffing around than a built 5 speed in my opinion.

Does a 6 speed not have to be wired in with a new starter motor and alternator?

Default 6 speed

It will straight bolt into your GC8,if you use the 6 speed clutch then you need the 6 speed starter motor.

No, you can do a small modification to your 5 speed starter motor and retian everthing 5 speed. Flywheel, clutch, fork, hydraulics, wiring for reverse lights, x member, front driveshafts etc. Only thing you need is a tailshaft, or get your 5 speed one shortened. Who said they were hard to fit?
Send me a PM if you have one that you need fitted.

im looking at keeping the 5 speed, talked to albins today and said they're gearsets should be fine for up to 400hp anything over that the gear teeth will just wear slightly quicker but still shouldnt brake. I then asked how much wider the gears themselves were and he said 1mm, know this might be a big jump in strength but to me it seems an extra 1mm imho surely it couldnt make that much difference could it .

cheers
