Default Engine Conversion

Hey guys,

Im just after some information on a engine conversion which im saving for at the moment. i have 94 Liberty GX with a EJ22 engine and i would like to buy a halfcut either a EJ25T or EJ20T, would prefer the EJ25T but what ever conversion is possible. Cause my car is front wheel drive and i dont really wont to spend the extra money on converting it into four wheel drive and its a bit hard. So also wondering if it possible to use my gearbox to fit either the EJ25T or EJ20T engine, what ever one i choose. If you got any helpfull knowledge on this stuff would be greatly apreciated.

Cheers

The easiest conversion for you is to get a early my94 to my96 WRX front cut. EJ20G turbo

Get it with the rear end assembly and everything will bolt right up. Minor electrical work to get it all wired up.

You can also get a RS Legacy Front cut. No electrical work required. Just transfer the whole Dash and wiring loom over. But Id recommend a WRX cut over the Legacy cut because the Legacy's have oil gallery issues in the head that show as tappet noise in the hydraulic lifters as the oil ages and galleries get clogged or blocked. It can be managed by regular oil and filter changes with quality oil and the use of additives. But you'll never really be able to get rid of it.

If your still keen on a 2.5L conversion its still possible to use a 2.5L block and bolt on early WRX heads and manifold (Legacy heads will NOT work).

If you use a late model 2.5L turbo front cut you are going to need extensive splicing of the dash and engine wiring looms or an after market ECU to manage it all.

very very very possible...several of us have done it over here, any ej motor will bolt to any ej gearbox but in your case i suggest u buy a wreck or something of the likes so u obtain the rear driveline as well..caus turbo motor and fwd is a doozy...i got 2 mates with that and unless u value ur life i wouldnt bother with it

cheers Mister two for the info just got to choose wich conversion to do, depending on how much money i save i'll probably more than likely buy my96 halfcut n get 2.5L block n bolt them together. the hard part is finding a electrician that will wire up for me. i no my mate had trouble finding sum1 to wire up his GT4 conversion n the guy who did it for him said he wouldnt do again so he's out. If use no any gud electricans that r gud at doing this sorta of stuff let me no.

i'll let u no bout the Ej22 motor BrennyV!!!

not a good idea. ej22 block will have a high compression ratio set up for NA use. Unless you run fuck all boost its a waste of time.
