V3 have pretty good cams as standard. But the heads themselves are nothing special. V5 onwards heads have better flow.

I've heard yes and no versus the closed deck or not on the V3, it wouldn't suprise me if its a case of different months got different motors.. is your engine an EJ20G or EJ205 or EJ207? either way as chee said, the V3 sti is a bombed motor.
