MaD_OwNeD, you've swapped your ecu over haven't you? so a z32 AFM wouldn't be a stock straight-swap option right?
Your correct! z32 needs aftermarket ECU.

z32 is a common upgrade when you upgrade to a power fc ecu, better tuning resolution and still work great when they're dirty/oily

bite the bullet, go to subaru & buy a brand new one for around $210, buying a secondhand one at a wreckers is dangerous cos it could be just as screwed as your old one

lucky me bought b4gt's low k one after he upgraded his ecu & no longer runs an afm & its still going great

Nah, not anymore. Swapped it over the second day I had the car. Seems the damage was done already though...

I picked up a new air flow sensor ($213) just to sort it out once and for all (or until it stuffs up again! haha). Grabbed out my torx set to chuck it in... only to find out you need the type with the hole in the middle... marvelous! Guess I'll have to track down a set with holes from somewhere tomorrow.

I snapped out the pin in the middle with a small screwdriver did the trick

Dick Smith sell them in a small kit with about 20 different weird heads & an angled driver for about $17

Security Screws. Cost bugger all, dont start snapping screws ;/ as if the afm isnt held properly it will bugger itself quicker.

Yeah the snapping of the middle bit took a little more effort than I was willing to try. Went down to Malz, $9.95 sorted the kit and I swapped the AFM over.

Problem seems much better although there still is a little hesitation at times so I'll probably need to check my leads and plugs as well as the intake for any leaks. Almost there though, thanks again all.

tried replacing AFM with a known perfect one and problem still remains
