Default DCCD and wheel speed sensor

Hi All,

Does anybody know where I can obtain information on where to get some diagrams or DIY to locate and check the DCCD wiring and wheel speed sensor?

My DCCD light is flashing, and my speedo sometimes shows me I'm doing 0kms. Ah, the joys of owning older model cars

Some assistance would be nice.

Thanks!

What year car is yours ?

I have the FSM`s and diagrams for ~2005 JDM and USDM DCCD stuff....somewhere in that doco it tells you how to read the codes from the DCCD module.

From my investigations into DCCD(and trying to make a USDM 05 DCCD module work in my MY05 GT Liberty) the ABSHU module/assembly takes all the signals from the wheels/abs sensor(raw reluctor signal), then communicates(cleans interprets and enhances it to a digital signal) that to the DCCD module via 4 channels and a few other signals, does you ABS light flash ? abs complaining at all ?

Subaru select monitor might be the quickest way(read definitely the quickest !) to diagnose your issue, that will tell you straight away which part of the system is faulty.

Thanks for a reply, I have a 1999 Version 5 STI Type R.

Those FSM's and diagrams, would they be similar to a JDM MY99 DCCD?

My car does not come with ABS so the forums I have been lurking all say that their ABS may have something to do with the DCCD/Wheel speed sensor.

Im interested in the subaru select monitor... how can I obtain this and what are the pro's (you had mentioned the quickest way to read it) and con's?

Thanks!

OK V5 dccd...check your car actually has abs type wheel sensors(most likely doesn`t)...so that makes it easier ! Its most likely picking up the signal from the speed sensor on the gearbox(I think V5 DCCD is a dumb system that has no knowledge of individual wheel speeds..)

Speed sensor wire burning on dump pipe ?? faulty speed sensor...replace it, I have a few speed sensors, if you take a photo of the plug I should be able to find one that fits...

Select monitor is the subaru diagnostic tool....dealers have them....

5 speed dccd, if factory, should have no input apart from handbrake.

everything else is power, diff and dash display.

Test the diff coil resistance then....does it feel like it works at all ?

Ignoring the ABS - does this link sound like the problem your describing ?

Check the wiring to your gearbox - especially your vehicle speed sensor wire.

Wrong model of DCCD

I think Tuna is right, the V5STI 5 speed dccd has not even a speed sense input, its purely manually operated with a handbrake signal !

Check the DCCD centre coils resistance

Thanks for the many reponses! Now how would I check the DCCD centre coils resistance? And what would I look for?

Thanks!
