Default Subaru Turbo Oil Starvation

Have a read, What do people think about this?? Im thinking of removing my filter on my next change..

Read the article, but they did not indicate the potential problems of allowing the sludge etc that is caught by the mesh/filter into the turbo?

hmm yes thats point.. But would the sludge just get pushed out of the exhaust, or could it fk the bearings??

yeah i dont know whether i prefer the turbo failing from oil starvation or sludge/metal particles in the turbo. i think i will talk to subaru service about this asap. cheers for the heads up trainwrex

Possibly but it would build up and the heat from the engine/exhaust might make it stick/bake it to the bearings and then eventually push some of it out as it breaks down???

Like all filters it must be R&D and placed there for a good reason, wouldn't you think?

the question i have though is why so much crap is getting past the original oil filter?

errr i think i will be changing mine seeing as the screen in mine has probly seen close to 170,000 k's

so whats the concensus? remove or replace?

Seems to only affect 04-07 2.5L turbos Chris....so your probably in the clear.
