You would be looking at 6-8 gs installed i think.. With G.box diff etc...

The RA box has different ratios so that makes launching etc not as harsh. But asfaik the teeth are exactly the same, just a change in gearing..

Cheap option, replace broken parts / install similar box. Proabably budget ~$2k?

Better options, PPG's, Ivans, Holinger or a 6-speed. Budget $6-8k minimum depending on gearset.

I'd still love to know how my 5 speed is abused to all living hell yet hasn't blown yet!

what yr is your rex cooper

the newer generation rex tend to have stronger box due to the higher ratios, generally 4.44 from my02 onwards, which helps, ie less load on the gears

some of the the type r & ra boxes with dccd have wider (read stronger) 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears (like the model: TY752VB5CA) which is basically the same gearset as the 22b gearbox but without the special treatment to them(cryogenic?? i think)

omg i felt a "famous last words" shudder then kato go touch wood.......no not that wood!

I feel for ya coop, on the bright side you got less risk of copping a speeding ticket trying to keep up with grayzee while ur off the road. I'll be praying to the gearbox gods for a speedy recovery.
