hey guys i have a problem with my car, dad picked up the car from subaru today and was driving it home when the CHECK engine light came on, what does this mean?

getting CEL can mean all sorts of things, new mods will do it, dump pipe install without tune will do it. Best to go to Subaru and get them to pull the code to see what it means. You can reset by disconnecting the battery but it may come back and if its something serious you dont want to take the chance or it could be ping ping ping

aww true, umm nah i dont have any new mods on it, its a MY00 wrx, so i might have to take it down to subaru to get it cheked out

Why was it at Subaru ? Wouldnt they have checked it all out while it was there ?

Can check the codes yourself. Plug the 2 green plugs that are under the steering column together and turn ignition to on.

how would this show what code is appearing mate, soory for the noobness,

today when i turned the car on, instead of the check engine light just turning on and staying there, it was flashing, what does this mean?

count the flashes in 10 secs....this is how many starts you have left before car self destructs!!!!
