Im cant belive people are trying to talk you out of a cage. If your doing any mtoorsport Cage = one of first things to do for safety.

Cage = Safe = Less chance of death = get one.

Id feel better being the wanker who is alive than the cool guy with the caved in head.

What if you hit something head on? It's much more likely than rolling. I'd rather invest in brakes first.

Why would you bother with a cage unless you have a dedicated track car? Honestly. It's money better spent elsewhere.

half cages dont really do too much in the way of overall chassis stifness anyways. for a proper stiff(!!) full welded (to car) cages + bracing is needed. you could easily get as much benefit as a bolt in half cage with undercar chassis braces (front and rear) and cross bracing behind the rear seats etc. others have already mentioned heaps of suspension mods but have forgotten to make sure you get proper camber, castor, toe and alignments done. like vyper says imo money better spent elsewhere

note preceding comments were only worth 2c and therefore may be viewed as b.s. by others

Don't suppose you know if you decide to then pull the cage out can it be re-re-registered as normal 4 seater. I'm still getting around to re-registering mine as a 2 seater too

I think a half cage is a good idea- but only if you do plenty of track work. It will give you some protection in a roll over and it also allows you to safely use a harness. If you aren't going to be a track regular then a bolt in will just add weight.

Mine is from Bond- very happy with it, cost about $900 inc harness bar.

His is a bolt-in, something you can do with a mate on a weekend.

Mine is a weld-in and cost just under $1K inc. labour, although I had to strip the entire interior and then put it back in myself (with help). Big effort to go back once you weld it in but I plan on keeping the car for awhile and reducing its street use.
