Both turbo's are very good. Best ive heard of for a 34 with tMIC and supporting mods is about 290hp at the hubs and a touch over 300hp at the hubs with a FMIC.

These were both on EJ205's as well.

TD05-16G with a EJ207 with TMIC was around 290hp as well (18-20psi) and around 315hp at the hubs with a FMIC running 24psi.

VF34's with FMIC on EJ207's Im not sure what the potential is...Assume similar...Brad had a 34 on a built motor that ran pretty strong..

Dos anyone have flow data for the 34 and TD05-16G? and their efficiency ranges? I have a feeling the TD05 likes to run at higher boost than the 34 but I dont have alot to back this up....

As a result, if thats true, the 34 may be a better turbo for the EJ205.

I've looked at the Forced Performance EVO3 Big 16g (TD05H-E316g6). Flows 550cfm and is best suited to 18-22psi and will make 330+awhp with the right supporting mods according to their website (can get the flow chart there too).

From what I've read on the internetz, the TD05 has a slight advantage in the top end being that it can run slightly higher boost. Kato will argue that you can smash in 2 bar but from what I've read the VF34 still punches out the numbers.

The reason the VF34 is soooooo popular is because it is a proven turbo. The TD05-16g is also a proven turbo but nowhere near as popular. Both will offer 300+awhp if you do it right.

VF34 sooooo popular, as you put it...for WRX's yes! However, I'm sure that the EVO boys will disagree about the TD05 not being as popular, as it's their OEM turbo...

If you can do the work yourself it wouldn't be too bad an idea to strengthen your current motor. It's easier if you can't to just get an STI block (2L or 2.5L), put your current heads and other bits on and away you go as STI blocks come with stronger internals.

Do a search on EJ207 and EJ257 and it should answer all your questions. There is probably 1000 threads to read through

yeah i was thinking about a 2.5 engine, but if i can just get a 2.5 block and match it with my current heads and other stuff, thats sounds alot cheaper and easier.
thanks, and i will do a search coz i really dont know what im talking about. lol

time to do some research
